ECLECTIC INTERIOR BY STUDIO BESAU-MARGUERRE FOR THE MUSEUM FÜR KUNST & GEWERBE HAMBURG

For the workspaces of the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg, the multidisciplinary studio Besau-Marguerre has developed an eclectic and expressive, yet functional interior design concept that meets the requirements of New Work and combines various design elements, different materials, colours and patterns.

While sifting through the museum’s archives, the studio was struck by huge multiplex panels with graphic patterns and exciting colours in the style of Memphis Milano that the museum had kept after an exhibition on the Italian design group. Besau-Marguerre used this find to design a conference table as well as a small round table that dominate the overall design concept. To ensure a harmonious look, the duo included calm elements, such as the gray curtains, and added a high-quality mix of design chairs in neutral wood or white tones to act as a counterpart to the lively colours and patterns.
