Karimoku Furniture globally launches three new brands: “CMPT by Lichen”, “Karimoku Re:issue by LICHEN” and “WAGETSU わ月”. They have been developed in collaboration with U.S.-based studios Lichen and WAKA WAKA.
Karimoku Furniture Inc. launches KARIMOKU RESEARCH, a co-creation space and research center housed in a standalone facility in central Tokyo.
The origins of Karimoku Furniture Inc. date back to 1940, when Shohei Kato took over a longstanding timber company and established a small woodworking shop in the town of Kariya, Aichi. Today, the company continues to keep its focus on the pursuit of the original concept: designing and producing wooden furniture made in Japan, while incorporating the latest manufacturing technology and fostering the continuous research on improving human dwelling.
